The Circular Polarizing Filter (CPL) is needed on virtually all cameras that utilize Auto Focus and/or Automatic Exposure. The CPL filter is a regular Polarizer with an added rear filter, a 1/4 Wave Retarder, that turns the Polarized light back into "normal" light so that your camera's focusing and exposure systems can adjust correctly. To use, simply rotate the front filter ring (there are 2 parts - a front and rear ring) until the optimal effect is obtained. NOTE: The Circular Polarizer can be used on ALL cameras, but the regular (linear) polarizer cannot; so, if you are unsure, always use a Circular Polarizer. The UV (Haze) filters are wise initial investments, they help protect your valuable investment from dust and scratches. If desired it can be left on the lens at all times for protection.
