The Circular Polarizing Filter (CPL) is needed on virtually all cameras that utilize Auto Focus and/or Automatic Exposure. The CPL filter is a regular Polarizer with an added rear filter, a 1/4 Wave Retarder, that turns the Polarized light back into "normal" light so that your camera's focusing and exposure systems can adjust correctly. To use, simply rotate the front filter ring (there are 2 parts - a front and rear ring) until the optimal effect is obtained.
